Merritt RCMP Cpl. Brock Hedrick has provided Q101 with an update on a stolen vehicle file that led to an extensive search.

“The Merritt RCMP have taken two subjects into custody in relation to a stolen vehicle investigation. The pair were captured by a Police Dog Service unit after a six-kilometre track on Swakum Mountain before being taken into custody,” wrote Hedrick. “The pair is a 33-year-old male and a 23-year-old female who are both Merritt locals and are well known to police.”

The pair will be held in police custody to await a court appearance.

“The Merritt RCMP would like to thank the public for reporting all suspicious activity and actively looking out for one another,” added Hedrick.

Anybody with information into the recent vehicle thefts is asked to call the detachment or CrimeStoppers.
