School District 58 Nicola-Similkameen has received funding to continue its work in the area of mental health.
Just over $30,000 is heading to the district, Superintendent Steve McNiven spoke to the work the district hopes to accomplish.
“The team will be putting together a plan that will reach further down into grade four, five and eight curriculums,” said McNiven.
The focus will hit on six keys;
- Understanding health and illness
- Specific illnesses
- Seeking help
- Importance of positive mental health
The district also received approximately the same amount of money last year.
“We have been really pleased with the work that the social-emotional learning team has been doing with mental health literacy,” added McNiven.
Last years funds also went to the implementation of curriculum for grades seven, nine and ten.
