Daily addiction programming in Merritt now in full swing.
Started in December, the Daily Addiction Recovery program (DARP) run in partnership by Interior Health and the Ask Wellness Society is now providing help to six people.
IHA manager of Mental Health and Substance Use Services for Thompson rural Phillip Snyman says the individualized program focuses on 12 themes, taught over 12 weeks.
"There's several clinical issues that can be identified through this process. Being able to identify some of their emotions, to look at relationships, and work on self esteem helps those in the program progress to the next stage of their recovery, while still being in supportive housing."
DARP is run in conjunction with the Adult Addiction Supportive Housing program, which provides a residence for up to six people, for up to six months while they work to get their life back on track.
Those looking for more information can inquire at either Ask Wellness, or the Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre.
