Exit 286 BC Visitor Centre closing in 2018.
Destination BC has a contract in place with a third party to provide visitor services at the Exit 286 site until January 12, 2018.
Following that, Mayor Neil Menard confirms visitor services in the Merritt area will be consolidated and solely provided by the City of Merritt out of the Baillie House, which may or may not be run in partnership with Destination BC.
"They are working on a proposal for them to work as a service delivery agent out of the Baillie House. We haven't got that proposal yet though, so that is not a certainty right now."
The building at Exit 286 is owned by the Real Property Division, Ministry Of Citizens' Services, and the province owns the land.
It has housed visitor information services since the mid 1980's.
